Hello
My name is Julie-Ann, and I'm a small business owner and blogger, and I live in Dunedin, New Zealand.
During the day, I'm either busy making handcrafted textile goods for my online store Hearth & Oak, or I'm studying weaving and natural dyeing. And when I'm not working, you'll find me crafting up a storm, or out and about in the garden, either pulling up weeds or harvesting fruit and veggies from our vegetable garden.
In terms of crafting, my main interests are spinning, knitting, weaving, dyeing, sewing, and cross stitching, but then again I'll give any craft a go at least once. When it comes to gardening, I love both vegetable and flower gardening, along with growing fruit trees. Recently I've really gotten into harvesting our produce and storing them to use over the winter months.
I also love going on nature walks, bird watching, and foraging when I can. My other interests include astrophotography, all things geeky, playing the flute, reading, and I'm currently learning to play the harp.
I live with an adorable husband, and two cute but naughty cats called Missy and Rosie. As I am a big crazy cat lady, occasionally the neighborhood cats Luna and Rupert aka Mr Snoot will drop by for pats and cuddles.
This blog is a written and visual diary of my interests, and also the passing of time during the year. I've been interested in writing and photography for a number of years, but as yet I haven't published anything. This blog is also an outlet for those interests too.
